
China Breaks Into Global Top 10 in Innovation Index Rankings
According to the Global Innovation Index 2025 report released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on September 16, China has broken into the global top 10 for the first time, ranking 10th overall—an impressive climb of 25 places since 2013. China performed particularly strongly in innovation output, where it ranked 5th globally. The country leads the world in multiple intellectual property indicators and boasts the highest number of top 100 science and technology clusters, with the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou cluster claiming the top spot for the first time. Meanwhile, the total value of Chinese brands remains the second highest globally, and the nation's competitiveness continues to grow in fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and green technology—demonstrating the significant results of its innovation-driven development strategy.
